Workshop
Description
This 6-week workshop will introduce students to the tools and techniques
needed to design and publish web sites on the World Wide Web. Emphasis
will be placed on learning the fundamentals of the appropriate software
along with design issues for interactive media. Applications used include
Dreamweaver, Fireworks and FrontPage. This is the first of a three-part
series on web design.
Prerequisites
Basic computer skills.
Course
Objectives
1. Understand
the structure of the Internet and World Wide Web.
2. Learn how to navigate and search the World Wide Web.
3. Explore visual communication through use of color, composition, scale,
typography and other design elements.
4. Consider various approaches to interface and navigation design.
5. Gain proficiency using several web design programs including Dreamweaver,
Fireworks and Front Page.
6. Utilize web-safe colors, typefaces and file formats for the Web.
7. Learn how to create and optimize graphics
and photographs for use on the Web.
8. Understand how to post and update a site.
9. Learn how to register and promote a web site.
