Biography
Aric Attas received his BS in Psychology from Hobart College in 1988 and his MFA in Photography from the Hartford Art School in 1996. Currently Attas is developing commercial and educational web sites for a range of clients including Abundant Sounds DJ Services, Advanced Technical Support, Inc., Anderson Productions, LLC., Control Systems Incorporated, Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium, Hartford Medical Group, High Schools for Heroes, Janow Picture Framers, Mary Frey | Photographer, Prudence Sloane’s Cooking School, Real Art Ways, Simonds Photographic, Inc., Trinfo.café at Trinity College, Tunxis Community College and ZipPark.com.

Attas also develops and teaches workshops in web design for Trinfo.café at Trinity College. In addition, he is an adjunct instructor at Tunxis Community College and the Hartford Art School where he teaches introductory through advanced courses in Art and Photography. He also developed and teaches an online History of Photography course through Tunxis Community College and the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium. His essays on photography include Facets of Formalism: A Critical Analysis of Modernist Photography and Dialogue With History: The Use of the Photograph By Sigmar Polke and Anselm Kiefer.

He has worked as a commercial photographer since 1987 specializing in still life work for clients including Art Institue of Chicago, Chicago Magazine, Ligature, Lipman-Hearne, Eve Alfille Jewelry, Pivot Design, Perolio Inc., Three Communication Design, Aaron Kramer Design, Urban Artifacts, Ellen Carey, Joseloff Gallery, and World Book.

In his fine art work Attas combines photography and sound in installations which examine the nature of the universe(s). He has also performed experimental works in which photographically etched zinc plates are dissolved in acid in order to copper plate their negatives. He has exhibited his work nationally and is the recipient of numerous awards and grants.
